Through Repentance we learn Surrender to God. Repentance is a language spoken from the heart that surrenders our will to God’s greater Will for us. Repentance becomes our first step in saying, “Yes” to The Lord. Jesus, himself, preached the importance of repentance (Luke 13:3).
We believe that repentance is the critical beginning step for each believer. For us, Repentance is more than an emotional feeling of deep remorse for living a life that has been unkind, calloused, and indifferent to God, ourselves, and the needs of those around us. Although, it is true one will feel deep profound remorse when one repents, it goes deeper than just a feeling of sadness and remorse.
What happens at the moment of true repentance is a softening of one’s hardened heart that is indifferent to God and others, and it results in a complete and literal change of heart and mind. This change is more than surface deep: about plans, intentions, or beliefs; instead, it is a change in the whole personality of the individual. Repentance is nothing less than a complete character shift! Everything about life is changed. A person who repents has an awakening with God that causes him or her to think, see, hear, speak, and act differently, because God has given a new heart, and therefore, a new life.
